Oh look! It’s Hot Dog Fred’s bus! Well, was…he sold it after it was featured on Overhaulin’.
HDF is a really stand-up guy in the SoCal VW Community…always thinking of others before himself. Always running the grill at Strictly Vintage 2s events! That was used to be Pearl White over Sea Blue and was stolen a few years back at the Kelley Park show in San Jose. It was recovered out near Stockton, CA (I believe) and it was well in need of the Foose treatment.
Personally, I don’t love all the touches on it, but it was neat to see the show feature a VW.

It’s Kelley Park Weekend in the Bay Area!

Yup! It’s the big VW show opener weekend in the San Jose area! Honestly, it can’t be called the show opener weekend anymore. We’ve come to a point where smaller clubs are doing events year-round, but The Kelley Park Vintage Meet is in its 26th year (yes, it started when I was 7 and I first attended at age 10!) and is still one of the biggest all-air-cooled VW events in Northern California.

As long as I’ve owned this camper (seven years), I’ve not taken it to Kelley Park. It’s mostly because I’d been helping to run a show the day before Kelley Park and was just too tired to get up at the butt crack of dawn to go to Kelley!

Well, I’m not part of the group that does the Saturday event anymore and as this is my only Saturday off in April, I’m not going to that event for the first time in ten years! I am, however, taking the camper to Kelley Park this year.

Expect lots of pictures!

And thankfully, I’m not looking for much in the swaps. So I can help my buddy Robert find parts for his new 1969 Westy!
